Happy 2023 and I hope you enjoyed the festive season.
This week is my first back at the writing desk. After a hectic time travelling around England (over a thousand miles in ten days), visiting family and friends, I think it will take me a few days to get back in the swing of things.
I am looking forward to catching up and reading your posts in the remainder of the week. Until then, here is a poem about New Year from my debut poetry collection, All Mine. (The audio version follows).
You rode in on a choir Of church bells and fireworks, Bow dripping fake gold Onto remnant waves I woke and found you gone, A lingering smell Of faux mademoiselle Left on the pillow
Welcome back and Happy New Year. 🙂 I hope your trip to England/around England was fun and not too exhausting. It can be difficult trying to fit in all the family in a short period of time.
Thank you, Brenda, and a happy 2023 to you too. There are still a couple of trips planned for the rest of the week. Looking forward to Monday and being able to draw breath.
I’m not looking forward to Monday … back to work … but at least it is wfh 🙂
Sounds like a great way to ease in, Brenda.
Happy new year, Davy. Getting back to writing can be daunting but it will fall into place. “faux mademoiselle” – seems intriguing and misleading. haha. Be well. 🙂
1000 miles in 10 days? That makes me tired just reading it! Love the poem, and have a wonderful 2023!
Thank you, Priscilla, and hope 2023 is wonderful for you. Glad you enjoyed the poetry and thank you for your kind words.
Happy New Year, Davy! Looking forward to more of your thoughtful poetry this year ~ my year of living poetically. 🙂 Alicia
Happy New year to you, Alicia. I look forward to reading more and following your poetic year. 🙏
