Clemmed

she whitewashes everything
leaves a scent of pure existence
like an old library, beyond repair

was she water-based or oil?
difficult to know the difference
when all her words are buried

or at least submerged

Clem: Old English slang word meaning to starve, to waste from hunger. Its origins date back to the 16th Century.

  1. The intriguing image and the magnificent words give rise to suspense. The woman brought to life from imagination or a memory that now resides only in artistic creation? I would really like to know more. Maybe I’ll just close my eyes and venture further. Beautiful writing, Davy. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Terveen. My writing muse has been very evasive of late. I think this was an attempt to bring her out of hiding. Glad you enjoyed the poetry. 😊
